In August 2024, Chiltern Hills Academy, located in Chesham, approached Bucks Fire and Security with a pressing need to improve the security of their school environment. The school sought to implement a comprehensive lockdown system that would not only enhance security in emergencies but also provide added functionality for daily use. As a long-standing client of Bucks Fire and Security, Chiltern Hills Academy trusted us to deliver a reliable, cost-effective solution that met their security and communication needs.

After assessing the project's requirements, Netgenium was selected as the manufacturer of choice due to its innovative, IP-based speaker systems. This system's key advantage was its ability to integrate seamlessly with the school’s existing network infrastructure, significantly reducing the cost of installation and minimizing disruption during the setup process.

Lockdown Activation: The system was integrated with the school’s access control system, allowing all doors to be securely locked in the event of a lockdown. This feature is crucial for ensuring the safety of students and staff during emergencies.

Public Address (PA) System: The same IP-based speakers were also configured to serve as a PA system, allowing the school to make clear, immediate announcements in an emergency or for everyday communications, such as school-wide announcements or safety instructions.

Class Change and Music System: In addition to lockdown and PA functionality, the system was designed to function as a c lass change notification system and provide background music for various areas of the school, such as hallways, classrooms, and common areas. This added functionality ensures the system is used frequently, reducing the need for additional equipment

By utilising the existing network infrastructure, Chiltern Hills Academy significantly reduced installation costs, making the system a cost-effective solution for their security needs.

In an emergency, the system ensures that all doors can be securely locked, offering peace of mind to staff, students, and parents.

Multifunctional Use:

The system serves multiple purposes, functioning not only as a lockdown solution but also as a PA system, class change notification system, and music system, providing ongoing value to the school.

The system was integrated with the school’s access control system and existing network infrastructure, making the installation process smooth and minimising any disruption during setup.

The system can be easily expanded or adapted in the future, ensuring the school's security and communication needs can evolve as required.

The new CCTV system significantly improved security and monitoring at Chiltern Hills Academy, providing better coverage, clearer footage, and greater control for staff. By incorporating future expansion options, the system is now scalable to meet the academy’s growing security needs.
