In 2024, TAV Airports, the operator of major airports in Turkey, faced rising daily passenger numbers at İzmir, Ankara, and Bodrum airports. Areas such as waiting lounges, boarding gates, and dining spaces often experienced frequent fluctuations in CO₂, temperature, humidity, and VOC levels. Traditional manual checks could not monitor air quality in real time or quickly adjust the ventilation systems. To address this, TAV worked with Milesight and DVM IoT Solutions to deploy a fully wireless, always-on air quality monitoring system throughout the terminals, creating a healthier and smarter airport environment for millions of travelers.

To ensure healthy air quality in busy areas like lounges, boarding gates, and food courts, TAV Airports deployed Milesight AM308L IAQ sensors throughout the terminals. These sensors continuously monitor essential air quality parameters and wirelessly transmit real-time data to Milesight UG63 LoRaWAN® Gateway and SG50 Ultra Low Power Solar LoRaWAN® Gateway.

A robust LoRaWAN® wireless architecture was selected to eliminate disruptive cabling and ensure stable, long-range data transmission throughout expansive airport spaces.

All sensor data is aggregated and visualized on the Insight platform. Facility managers can access real-time dashboards, track historical trends, and receive AI-driven air quality improvement suggestions—all from a single, user-friendly interface.

The system delivers instant notifications through multiple channels whenever air quality thresholds are exceeded, enabling staff to respond quickly and maintain a safe environment for passengers and employees.
